What are you doing to keep my pet safe? We keep your pets safe by getting to know them,
We make a point of getting to know each animal individually -- what behaviors are "normal" for him or her and how his or her body feels. This allows us to notice quickly if there is a change in behavior or a new lump or bump that could signify a medical problem so that we can let you know right away and your pet can receive the care they need.
preventing dangerous situations, We match dogs for Group Dog Walks carefully to minimize the likely hood of fighting within the pack and maximize their fun. When out with dogs, we are constantly scanning out surroundings. If we see anything we feel could pose a danger, we turn around and go the other way. If we still feel uncertain, we have no qualms about packing everybody up and driving to a different park.
At night we attach blinking lights to the collars of dogs so that they are visible.
and being prepared for emergencies. We maintain current Pet First Aid and CPR training and keep First Aid kits, emergency care releases, and directions to the nearest vets close at hand so that we can respond to an emergency promptly and effectively.
What treats do you use on group Dog Walks? Because we have a couple of dogs with restricted diets or food allergies, we use only hypo-allergenic, vegetarian treats. On any given dog walking, you can expect to find two or three different types of treat. This allows us to accommodate different tastes and be able to "up the anti" for tasks that require more motivation. A typical assortment would be: Natural Balance Vegetarian formula kibble, Simon and Huey's Soft and Tasty Treats, and small chunks of cheese. We also use products like Buddy biscuits, Zuke's treats, and Chocolick treats.
What treats do you use on individual Dog Walks? Treats on individual Dog Walks are nearly identical to those on group Dog Walks, but tend to lean more towards the individual's taste.
Can you use my dog's own treats? Certainly! The only restriction is that if your dog will be on a group dog walk, we can not take any treats that will conflict with the safety of any allergic dogs on the dog walking.
What forms of payment are accepted? We accept cash or check or if you prefer, you may use paypal with a 5% fee to cover their usage charge.
When are my payments due? Payment for Dog Walking is due on the first day of month. (Example: Payment for all March services is due March 1). Payment for Sitting is due at the time of your consultation for your first trip and is due at the beginning of the first sitting visit for all subsequent trips (usually mailed in advance or left on a counter or table). A $50 fee is charged on all returned checks. A $50 late payment fee is charged on Dog Walking payments made after the seventh of the month and Sitting payments made after the start of services.
My other pets don't really need much. Can you just ignore them and only care for the dog? No. Professionally and compassionately, we can not ignore animals. Though in some circumstances it's likely they'll be "OK", their emotional needs for interaction require human time and attention and their health needs require an attentive eye to monitor for signs of illness and a detail-oriented pair of hands to keep their environment sanitary.
